Biography

Folk singer & Songwriter HannekeLaura

Touched deeply by the acoustic folk music HannekeLaura left her job as a big firm lawyer to spend a few years in the Irish traditional folk scene and the wild nature of the West Atlantic coast. Back in Holland she toured as a singer/songwriter with Perry Blake, Tim Akkerman, The Dubliners, and played in many special venues like castles, a tall ship on the wild seas, festivals like Parkpop and legendary concert halls like Paradiso.

Her repertoire combines wellknown Irish folk traditionals and her own romantic ballads, sung straight from the heart and accompanied by acoustic guitar. During the corona crisis Hanneke added many folk cover requests from the 60s and 70s to this, as part of her YouTube lockdown sessions: Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Neil Young, Dolly Parton, Melanie and many others. This also was a time period when older folk traditionals were rediscovered. For the live presentation of her ‘folk revival’ concerts she is regularily accompanied by solo guitarist Febby Tasiran for a nice country feel.

Let yourself be carried away to times gone by, stories of the past and a bit of idealism to make this changing world a better place. HannekeLaura shows with pure acoustic music that - especially in times like these - little is needed to make something beautiful.
